Background of Putt-Kew®

A game developed with the golfer in mind, but not excluding the non-golfer.

We had to create a game which would be highly advantageous for the regular golf player, and which will benefit his golf game, unlike many golf-related games which actually develop different skills and trick shots rather than just realistic golf as it can be encountered on a real golf course.

The next requirement was that the game had to also appeal to non-golfers. It had to be competitive, but exclude that part of the great game that is quite time consuming, and requires great skill levels. We therefore eliminated the long drive shots, the chips, the bunkers and all forms of hazards from our game to make it quick and easy.

What remained now, was the putting only – and now we had to build an enjoyable game consisting purely of 100% focused putting, yet provide a demanding challenge.

We eliminated the cue in a game of pool or snooker, and replaced it with a putter, lost the spirit-levelled table and replaced it with a challenging putting green with breaks and varying stimp speeds, added a few new rules to make it work, and there we were – we got EXACTLY what we were looking for.

The Putt-Kew™ game has been tested, adjusted, and replayed many times over – until we had the positive feedback from both golfers and non-golfers that we could read as highly satisfactory, even when the game was played repeatedly.

The golfers tended to be the most critical of the game – saying it would pose no challenge to them, and it would just be 1 and 2 putts all the way anyway. They admittedly still hold that opinion, but a bit less openly. The idea is that on a green there should be just 1 and 2 putts – so get that here, and you’re playing Putt-Kew™ at PAR 2 as it should be. Cut that down to less than 2 strokes per hole on average, and see your golf handicap drop as a result!

From the non-golfers angle, we have witnessed many golf strangers get pretty close to the par 2 with Putt-Kew™ and on more occasions than one, the regular golfers have been pretty well beaten at their own game too!

An added feature of Putt-Kew™ is the registration of games played on the approved tables, allowing all players the opportunity to participate in the same league.
